The members of the AASF Executive Board met in Dubai, UAE on 12th February 2022 in a hybrid setting to approve the reports for the past two years and discuss various matters concerning aquatic sports in the continent including the resumption of the AASF events as well as the upcoming AASF General Congress to be held in Hangzhou, China in conjunction with the 19th Asian Games on September this year.
Extraordinary FINA World Championships to take place in Budapest on June 2022
The Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and FINA President Husain Al-Musallam today announced an agreement for Hungary’s capital city to hold a FINA World Championships from 18 June – 3 July 2022.

Asian Representatives elected in the FINA Bureau, 2021-2025
The FINA General Congress was held in Doha, Qatar on 5 June 2021 with the attendance of 183 National Federations both onsite and remotely.
Mr. Husain Al Musallam (KUW) has been elected as the new FINA President, taking over the role of Dr. Julio Maglione who served as President since 2009.
AASF Signs Sponsorship Agreement with SK Inc.
Mr. Taha Al Kishry, AASF Secretary-General has signed the sponsorship agreement with SK Inc. on 4th June 2021 in Doha (QAT), in conjunction with the FINA General Congress.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Sam Ramsamy, President of the African Swimming Federation, Mr. Husain Al Musallam. FINA 1st Vice President, and Mr. Jungseok Choi on behalf of SK Inc.

AASF Secretary General visits Uzbekistan
Mr. Taha Al Kishry, AASF Secretary-General has visited Uzbekistan on 24 March-3 April 2021 for a series of meetings with the Sports Ministry, National Olympic Committee, and the Uzbekistan Swimming Federation and discussed cooperation with AASF to organize series of events in the next three years. They also tackled plans and initiatives to further popularize and develop swimming, diving, artistic swimming, and open water swimming in their country.

Asia approves candidates for the FINA Bureau, 2021-2024
On 7th November 2021, Asia Swimming Federation had its General Congress with the attendance of 43 Asian National Federation members. Four (4) NFs (Japan, Jordan, Singapore, and Sri Lanka) have participated virtually due to their inability to travel caused by the COVID-19 restrictions.
